Artist Spotlight: Cheryl Linkhart
Cheryl Anderson Linkhart has a flair for the dramatic.
Cheryl majored in Theater and was one of the founding members of Off-Bowery Theatre Company in the 1990's in Chicago. She also wrote two one-woman shows that she performed in Chicago and London.
The impact of the visual aesthetic in costuming, lighting, set design, and ultimately greeting card design has always fascinated Cheryl. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago one class short of a minor in Art History. Through her ties to the theater scenes in Chicago and London, Cheryl got to know lots of creative people, and has always found that "artists make for the most interesting friends."
When Cheryl became a mom, she channeled all her creative instincts into motherhood. Designing cards was one way to stay in touch and still create something original. Family and friends looked forward to her home made cards, so in 2006, with their encouragement, Cheryl co-founded Link Art Ink, incorporated with Bill Raspe.
Cheryl's style is minimal and honest. Working mainly with photographs of her "very understanding family", she finds humor in everyday situations. She sites Anne Taintor's cards as an inspiration, as well as her "good-looking family filled with undiscovered comedians!"
With the inception of Link Art Ink, Cheryl says she is "thrilled to have the opportunity to offer a venue to the talented, under-exposed artists I know and I'm excited about the opportunity to work with many more talented people."
